  • Tenders are invited for Baseline Study on the Situation of Gender & Youth Inclusiveness within Targeted Small Producer Organisations Modules 1 to 3 will be delivered in the first quarter, modules 4 to 7 in the second quarter and modules 8 to 10 in the third quarter. These modules will be adapted to the local contexts as described by the initial baseline study (see Annex 3 for basic methodology). Assignments will be given after each quarter and will be followed by monitoring visits and coaching sessions. The fourth term is devoted to the presentation of the project and the graduation ceremony. Participants are mentored in their communities to engage in activities that practically build their capacity, skills and confidence. The course, although mainly attended by women who have been selected through a recruitment process, can and should also welcome male participants. 2 Description of Young Cooperative Managers Academy ( YCMA) The YCMA is designed similar to the WSOL, that is, it constitutes taking youth through modules of training covering critical and relevant topics, coupled with practical assignments, coaching and mentorship. They would also be equipped with pedagogical skills through training of trainers (ToTs) that will enable them to carry out pieces of training on the same modules for their peers and other cooperative members. The youth will subsequently form peer experience sharing platforms/networks that will enable them to share their common challenges and experiences for cross-learning. The activity aims to directly empower 40 youth and indirectly 2.000 youth (no single-gender should be more than 2/3) from 20 cooperatives taking up leadership positions or roles and participating in decision-making processes in their cooperatives and communities through the YCMA. Expected Results and Targets under the YCMA: - Expected Result 5: YCMA, 40 young (one gender not constituting more than 2/3) directly learn about how to lead and manage farmer cooperatives; and Expected Result: 6: YCMA, 20 Young directly taking up management and other leadership positions in 20 cocoa cooperatives. For each YCMA graduate who takes a management position, we expect them to have an impact on the total membership of the cooperative and to take leadership roles in the cooperatives leading to 20,000 indirect beneficiaries. Under this project, 40 youth from 20 cooperatives (two from each cooperative) will be directly targeted to participate in the entire suite of the YMCA over one year. Over the next two years of the project, the initial 40 youth, with the technical and financial support as well as guidance, will lead the further enrolment and training of 50 other youth within or around their cooperative or communities. The youth will include both young women and men with no single-gender constituting more than 2/3 of the total selected and from each cooperative. YCAM Component Activities: Main Activities are: Sub-component 1: Development and Printing of training materials for modules; Sub-Component 2: Enrolment, training and graduation of youth under YCMA; Sub-Component 3: Recruitment of graduates of YCMA as trainers and rollout of phase II of YCMA; Sub-Component 4: Documentation, publication, sharing and communication of project results; and Sub-Component 5: Project Management. List of the 10 Modules of Young Cooperative Managers Academy: Module 1: Financial Management Basic financial management Strategic financial management Record keeping Internal capitalisation for farmers- cooperatives Module 2: Management and Organisation How to conduct Scope assessments or scoping (exposure tools etc.) Cooperative assessment Organisational assessment Module 3: Governance and Leadership Cooperative governance Member commitment Managing your agricultural cooperative Female leadership training Youth participation Guidance and support for supervisory boards Human Resource management Module 4: Advocacy and Lobbying Developing Advocacy and Lobbying strategy formulation Stakeholder scoping and mapping Farmer Advocacy Consultation (including tools, processes and methods) Module 5: Business Development Basic Marketing skills Sustainable services Creating value (including value addition, diversification and product development) Module 6: Training of Trainers (Pedagogical skills) Training of trainers on financial management Training of trainers on managing your agricultural cooperative Training of trainers on cooperative governance Training of trainers on basic marketing basics 3 Description of Sustainable Democratic and Inclusive Cocoa Cooperatives in West Africa Programme. This project is designed to enhance the technical and democratic capacity of cocoa cooperatives and to enhance their inclusiveness by building the capacity of vulnerable and excluded groups i.e., women and youth to take up leadership positions and participate in decision-making processes. The capacity of the cooperatives will be enhanced through pieces of training designed under Fairtrade-s flagship West Africa Cocoa Programme (WACP) while the capacity of women and youth will be developed through the Women School of Leadership (WSOL)and Young Cooperative Managers Academy (YCMA).
